The drug consumption space DrobInn in central Hamburg gives consumers of hard drugs a zone to legally and medically supervised inject and smoke.
350 - 500 people come here every day. 80% of them are homeless, many have marginalized vitae. Here they find a social framework and support aswell as medical advice.
The area infront of the building is almost never empty, yet there is no design for the relevance the space has in peoples lifes. No seating, no shelter, no lightsources, no watersource. Those we tried to design together with the consumers and the staff of Jugendhilfe e.V. We took over the task to both map the area and it´s functionality and integrate the analysis into a redesign of the area.
The project has been developed with Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe and ConstructLab.
